2009 230 adding HTX-6 and new HU. Can I use factory power wires.

My basic question is what is the breaker switch rating for the factory amps (I have a Team Edition). Looking online most panels seem to have 60amp breakers for each amp but the examples I can find are usually newer boats.

Additionally looking for any advice from someone who has done a similar upgrade before. Anything I should be aware of or tackle now while I am working on this.

My speaker setup is as follows
    RMS Impedance Quantity
    Cabin Wet Sounds XS 650 100 4 4
    Bow Polk MM 651UM 100 4 2
    Tower Polk MM 692 150 4 2
    Sub JL M10IB 250 4 1
Amp is going to be a HTX-6 and I also have a WS420

I am upgrading my 230 Amp to a single WS HTX-6. Plan is to run Sub, cabins and tower speakers off this and run the bow speakers off the head unit. Since I don't think the factory wire will support the HTX-6 (by my calcs it will need around 90 Amps, I am going to use the both power wires from the factory.

My plan is to update the tower speakers and add another amp at the point. When I do that I will upgrade the wiring power and ground wires to a single 1/0 run from the battery but I was going to wait on this until I know exactly what I am going to get.

Follow up question. Does anyone know the length of power and ground wire I'd need If I was going to upgrade the wiring from the battery switch. An estimate would be fine.

If im reading this correctly, you are asking if you can run the two factory amp power cables to a single amp? No, I would not advise to do this. You need adequate cable gauge for both the B+ and B- as well as proper circuit protection for the amp and cable. Personally, I would not run anything smaller then 4ga to that amp.

        Thanks MLA,

Do you know what length the run from the amps to the battery switch is?

If the switch is in the STBD rear locker, you are likely looking at 25ft for the B+. Less for the ground. Maybe 15ft to the battery under the port side corner cushion.
