    1 tower speaker now hissing

Hello all. Had my boat for over a year now and just over the last month or so my right tower speaker starting "hissing". These are the factory tower roswells and have 4 of them. Never had the issue until a few months ago. Yesterday I played around a little with it and it is only when the blower is running. Again, everything is factory. I did mess around with the amps once so maybe I messed up a frequency/gain? Anyone have an idea here?

So you know if you have a 2 chnl or 4 chnl amp? You can swap the left and right RCA and see of the noise moves or stays, and then you swap the speaker outputs with another speaker to see the same results. Speakers rarely produce the unwanted noise, but simply reproduce the signal sent to them.

Factory Polk amps. And I think it is the Polk 5000/5. I switched the left and right cables and yes noise moved. When I turned the blower off it went away after I turned it from HPF to Full. Once I turned blower on came back.

Your boat likely has 2 amps. The 5000/5 will definitely power the cabin speakers and woofer. The 2nd amp will power the tower speakers. Just cant remember from year to year, if its was the Polk 4000/4 4 chnl or the 2 channel.

So if you move the RCA and the noise moved, then this points to the noise coming in on the RCA rather then the amp producing the noise.

Yes those are the amps I have and couldn’t remember which was which. Don’t have the boat in front of me.

I will give that a go. Not sure of next chance to test it out but will update.
