2018 210 adding additional tower speakers

    Hello PlanetNautique,

I currently have a single pair of the 8.8" JL Audio speakers on our tower. I would like to add another pair. My question is do I have to upgrade the factory amplifier, or is it basically plug and play once I bolt the additional speakers to the tower?

You'll have to look and see what's driving the current tower speakers. I do know that from the factory with 4 tower speakers, you'd have a JL Audio M400/4 for the tower speakers. It's a good 4-channel, 400 watt amp.

      Hi Michigan210 ,
Looking to do the same thing on a GS22, ie, add a pair of JL 8.8s. Were you successfull adding yours? Did you find wiring in the tower for two more speakers? I have mount plates and wiring holes for another pair. Haven't tried digging for wires yet.

      Thanks!

Mine was plug in play on my 18 G21. Wires were there didn't have connectors on them though, I ordered the four pin Deutsche connectors that the factory uses for tower speakers. Went into settings with the dealer code and switched it to two pair from one, and everything works and sounds good.
