I finally broke down and replaced my stereo system that has been in the boat since new. It is a 1992 Ski Nautique closed bow. The shop did an excellent install. When they removed the old 6.5" speakers there was a rust ring around the vinyl and the installer used a chrome acylic to make a backing plate to hide the imperfections. He then added a Sony Marine controller by the throttle that works great. Mounted the stereo in the dash and sealed it up tight and wrapped the mounting plate in the same vinyl as the OEM dash. Made a custom woofer box for one 10" sub on the left and another 10" up under the front of the bow on the right. The woofer box on the left was made out of fiberglass so it will not rot and he made a custom made battery tray all together as one unit that is trick. I added two new huge Oddysey batteries and upgraded to the new style 100 amp alternator. We then ran all new pro street speaker wires thru the whole boat. A Xantrax battery combiner was used instead of a manual perko switch and that thing is awesome in that is automatically changes between batteries depending on load etc. A 4 channel Alpine amp on the Polk Momo high's and a Punch on the two Polk subs. Overall I am very happy with the install because it does not take up any extra storage room and it hits hard with great sound. Pics below!
