has anyone made a good set of tower speakers using HLCDs and other drivers.

That speaker on the left is has a HLCD coaxially loaded behind the voice coil.
Here is the bill of material. Tweeters require 5db of attenuation in addition to the crossovers.

i would look at european pro drivers... they are really incredible compared to the usa stuff... high efficency & high power capability.
just get the cheapest horn and some of their 8's or 10's with a crossover.. note the phl's do not have a seperate horn available..
some considerations:
phl (pro audio marine drivers & coaxial)
b&c (incredible)
rcf (see above)
beyma (very good)
of the above mentioned, only the beyma has a standard mounting size. all the rest are about 10 mm bigger

They are loud and clear behind the boat but sound quality is not as good as the Wetsounds I run now. The neighbor bought the used set off me for $400. If you are interested I ended up with a full set of duplicate equipment except for black cans. The cones are painted silver. Everything but crossover's. The cans came from Raul, same source as Pyramid. If you are interested send me a PM, make me an offer.
