I'm looking at ordering a G23 and am inclined to go after-market on the tower amp and speakers. So a couple of questions:
1. In the Panoray Link manual, I see the zone control has a separate zone for dash, cockpit, tower and sub. As I currently have the boat configured, I will only have cockpit speakers and the sub installed at the factory. I'm thinking that means zone control must be enabled and that the dash and tower sliders do nothing.
This won't be possible if the zone control uses the JL amplifier "remote level control" (unless I install a JL amp) and it won't be possible if the tower zone control slider does not appear on the LINC display in the absence of the tower speaker prep package.
However, it looks to me like the zones are controlled via the Media Master head unit (which JL says has 4 separate zones and is NMEA 2000 compatible for zone volume control). If that is the case, then the zone level must be attenuated at RCA output of the head unit and I can use an after market amp if the zone controls appear in the LINC display. Is this the case?
2. Is the tower prewired for speakers even without the tower speaker prep package? This used to be the case.
