how do I get this speaker out?

This is a relatively new wetsounds speaker, and this is the second cone that has broken off just during normal use. Literally fell into the boat while idling aroind. No the music hasnt been cranked and no rough water.
The first one fell out after only about 1 hour and it was just the external cone. This one about 4 months later and ive only yswd thw boat a few times (sadly).
This one has somehow broken the entire core.
Wetsounds finally sent me a replacement - but I dont know how to get it out.
Removed top allen screws at front and nothing.
Im not too inpressed with wet sounds so far. Tried removing all allen screws but two on the back are rounded off so guess ill have to drill them out. Ugh what a pita

Are you trying to get the broken horn flare out of the center of the mid-bass or remove the entire driver from the pod.

Ill be honest, in 15 years, ive never seen 2 broken horn flares, much less 2 on the same boat in this short of a period. Something is not right.

WetSounds sent me an entire new speaker, that mounts in the can. Yeah, tell me about it... I suspect it is something the installer in Orlando did when they put them in. They were terrible but came highly recommended and not cheap at all. Anyway, yes sadly I have only used the boat maybe dozen times in the last 4-5 months on our small lake, and both times they just fell into the boat. no crazy loud music, and no big waves... Weird is an understatement. Any rate, I am now apparently going to have to drill the 2 screws that are stripped. Whomever designed these with such tiny allen head screws - ugh.

Its been awhile since ive had those apart. IIRC, take the back plate off, drop the bottom half from the top half. Then from the inside, there are 4 screws that will let the nose and driver come off.

Can you post a pic of the driver's damage? If its a torn surround, its directly and 100% related to improper system tuning.

I can see that is how I will have to remove it.. Just that two of the 4 back plate screws are toast... So I will have to drill them out... about 20 screws to replace 1 speaker lol... I tried to upload from my phone and they show up on my phone... Weird they aren't showing up in posts here...

Try a torx bit befor drilling. Find one that is just a hair too big and lightly tap it in. Stainless soft, so this trick works often. Also, try using a different allen. if the correct size is metric, find the closest STD thats just larger or visa versa. Tap it in.

Finally got to it. Drilled ever so carefully to just get the pan head. One the cover was off was able to remove the remainders. Will put anti-seize on new ones. Getting to the actual screws holding the entire speaker/driver in was a pita too. but have the new one in a about ready to go.. It is tedious making sure you don't pinch the outer cone surround when installing the 4 screws that actually hold the driver. Thank you for the help MLA!
