just curious to see what brands and types of 6.5" speakers everyone has in their boat(s) and how they like them.

RE: 6.5" speakers
We're have 2 pair of JL Audio VR650-CXi in the main part of the boat and they really sound nice. They're powered by a JL Audio 300.4, which pushes 75w per channel. I highly recommend the speakers.2001 Air Nautique

RE: 6.5" speakers
I have ran Polks (both db and MMC series), Infinity's, Sony's, Pioneers, and JLs. Honestly I don't think it makes that much difference if you get something decent. I currently have the Polk MMCs in my 05 211 and they are just good enough so I am not motivated to change them. I actually like the cheaper db series better, and you can get the oversize 675s in most boats too. I also like the new Infinity Kappa 652.7i's, they are great with the adjustable tweeter (reduces high frequencies by 3db), nice shiny cone to reflect LEDs, sounds great, high efficiency, they actually make bass too, all at a reasonable price.
Are you interested in 6 slightly used Polk MMC 650's? I might consider an upgrade...

RE: 6.5" speakers
In your 94 they are rear mount. If the "panty hose" is still in good shape I would mount them behind the panels. In that case you should stick to a speaker with a stamped basket like the polk db675 or Infinity 652. The Infinity would be a good choice because it's light and not too deep so it would be easier to mount them. When I did my 95 I siliconed some old vacuum tubing around the inside of the speaker face to make a speaker stand-off so the speaker surround would not hit the wood. You could get fancier with a plex or PVC ring if you wanted too.
If the netting is not in good shape then you should front load them, theywould look like Jr Vic's install here:

You would not need the chrome trim piece unless you had the same rust issues as he did.

RE: 6.5" speakers
my netting if fine, but im going to be mounting them from the front...i think it looks better! did you rear mount them? a little confused on the vac tubing... im either gonna go with the momos or infinitys.have had infinity products before and loved them..........i actually have my "side curtains" in my basement now so it will be easier to install them

using image dynaimcs idq6 and ndx tweeter seperates...sounds incredible..
would suggest id chamelon's if you got the coin or ctx for a budget (btw, the id chamelons displaced my dynaudio gt240 set at a 35% of the cost...they are that good)
