    Polk head unit replacement

I have seen a few threads about replacing an old Polk head unit. Figured I would try to condense them into one thread.

Has there been any update from Nautique regarding JL Audiio head unit integration with Linc 2.0 older than 2016?

For those of you that have replaced the Polk unit, what have you done?

My 2014 210 Polk head unit was working fine at winterization last fall, dealer says it is now not working. Looking at options.

    Thanks

well, just talked to the dealer. they were able to get the unit to work. it went through some sort of boot up code screen, they are not sure if it's on its last leg or not. Has anyone replaced one with a JL MM 100 or 105? If so, did you mount a remote or an M40 as well? where?

still working on this one. dealer and nautique parts suggest upgrading to the JL retrofit. dealer says it will work without software update. still trying to get confirmation if the software update will work. nautique parts believes so, dealer says nautique says it won't.
however, the dealer and i discovered today the linc and pdm in my boat (2014 210) are the same part numbers all the way up to 2018 (210). the retrofit software goes back to 2016.
so we are wondering/thinking, if the hardware is the same, then the software update "should" work.
      more research is being done.

There are multiple parts of the LINC screen that can be updated. There is the firmware that runs on the CPU, but there is also a Programmable Logic Device (PLD) in the screen that can be re-programmed independently from the CPU firmware. A good portion of the audio interface is handled by the PLD. There seems to be quite a bit of confusion and misinformation floating around about the LINC audio support in this timeframe. I haven't been able to get consistent information from contacts I have at Nautique and other sources. I suspect the only way you'll really know for sure is to try it.

they are both working in this. Dealer says nautique continues to say no go with the software. nautique parts says nautique says it will work ‍♂️ i'm not really willing to just "try" at this point.

dealer was told by Nautique that there is an new updated Polk unit that will interface with Linc in my boat. Dealer was unaware of this new unit. I may end up doing that

Curious what you find out. For some odd reason, I am not getting bass from my stereo any more and I have back traced the problem all the way back to my head unit (I think) and my next part swap is to replace the head unit. And I may be looking to upgrade the HU myself.

Just out of curiosity IceyTys, did you check the Subs? I know what's the possibility of both Subs going out at the same time?
When I picked up my '16, I had the same problem, no bass to Subs. It took me a bit to isolate because that was the last thing I would of assumed to be wrong. Especially when they were "working" before the boat hit the dealer for pickup.
There are several way to this, and if I remember the access to the Sub plug in locker is easy access. Disconnect plug, ohm meter across the Sub (very low or no resistance = bad), or an old school approach using a 9v battery for a click response from the Sub.
              Worth a shot...
