    They come with both 10" and 12" cutouts. The volume is about 0.8 cubic feet but they advertise them as 1.0 cubic feet. I guess you could say the plastic flexes making the box act bigger? It's a quick and easy solution if it fits. The nice part is the plastic is totally waterproof.

      Installing the speaker in the kick panel without an enclosure I am guessing would be giving up sound quality? pretty unlikely with my heater there is enough space for an enclosure.

      Also do you think (2) batteries will be enough for my system?

        If you are installing the sub without a box take care to create a "baffle" that prevents the air wave coming off the front of the cone from cancelling with the wave coming off the back of the cone. I often see in experienced installers mount subs near the edge of a baffle board where the path between the front and back of the cone is only a few inches. It's kind of like a prop spinning in air. The ideal situation is an infinite baffle, that's what a sealed box creates.
