Amp purchasing questions? (what do i need)

I just bought 4 pairs of Polk db650's four speakers for tower cans and 4 to go in the boats interior. I need to know if i should amp interior speakers or run them of of a pioneer head unit i already have. I know i need an amp for the tower speakers and would like to add a single sub to the setup. What amp would work for the tower speakers (4 db's) and a sub. Does anyone know if the factory 22watt rms is good enough for the interior speakers? I have been thinking about a 5 channel amp but i dont really understand what amp size/spec i need...thanks

Right now I'm running a 5 channel amp for my whole system in my boat. It puts out about 75W x 4 for the cabin speakers, and about 300-400W on the 12" sub. Good setup. I would definitely advise getting amplified power for ALL speakers in the boat if possible. We removed our tower speakers cause they were garbage and interfere with putting our bimini up and down. My future plan is to add 2 or 4 tower speakers and probably a nice 75W+ x 4 amp to power them. My head unit lets me wire that up so I can adjust cabin and tower volume independently straight from the head unit so the cabin won't be blaring but the rider can still hear the tunes. I think you'd be doing good with a 5ch amp right now if you want to add a sub. Put the mid/high channels on either the tower or the cabin speakers up to you which you'd prefer. Ideally you could pick up an extra decent 4ch amp to get good power on all speakers though.

What brand amp would you recommend? I would like to have at least 60rms x4 (4 ohms) and 300 watts for the sub or more. but most amps on the lower price scale read 200 watts at 4 ohms for the sub channel.

Check this amp out. I love ED amps and subs. They have 5 year warranty, they rate the power at 12.5V instead of 14.4 so the numbers are realistic, i am using a NINE.1 in my boat and in has never overheated or had any other problems.

There are several good 5ch designs out there. You might want to check out Alpine, MTX, Kicker, Memphis Audio and JL Audio to name a few that I know of at least. Sometimes I search ebay for 5ch or something similar to locate them, or browse the multichannel amp section.

Never seen those ED amps before, looks pretty good to me.

Its not a 9 channel amp. NINe is just the name of the line of amp. all which are great amps.

I have a kicker 650.4 running all of my polk 6.5, same setup as you. It has been a good loud amp but I have decided to go to a competition style system. But You would have to add a mono amp for your sub. If you are interested I will sell it to you before she goes on ebay.

can you bridge the amp to run 8 of the fourohm speakers?

Yes, that is the way you should run it. 2ohm load
That is the way I have my amp hooked up.
