Speaker wiring question for new Nautiques?

It is my understanding that from the factory the two bow Polk Momo speakers are wired to the radio and the other four speakers are wired to the 4 channel amp. Now the APX480M is putting out 80 watts RMS to each speaker and the CMD4 is only putting out 17 watts RMS to the two bow speakers. It makes sense on how the bow speakers begin to distort with volume and the rest do not.

I just purchased an additional APX480M to power the Skylon Rubicon 250 speakers I mounted on my tower. Originally, I was just going to bridge two channels on the amp for each tower speaker combo since they can handle 250 watts a piece.

Now I think I might rewire the bow speakers to the amp like the others. Has anyone does this on their boat? Was there enough wire to use the stock wiring or did you have to replace it completely to make it to the amp. If the wire is just long enough to make to the CMD4 then I am sure it has to be rewired completely. I'd just like to find out from someone who has done it before I undo all the factory wiring.

    Here's a better way...

Wire all four main cabin speakers to the rear channels of the existing APX480 (parallel wired, 2 ohm load on the amp)
Wire the bow speakers to the front channels of the same amp.

Wire the tower bridged to the new amp.

    No sub?

My 210 has the 10" factory Polk running off the existing amp.

I believe the four cabin speakers are wired in parallel already to two of the channels and the other two channels are bridged for the sub.

aarond0083 - that is correct for the factory wiring - I removed the factory sub and replaced it with a L7 12" solobaric powered by kicker 750.1 - The factory tower speakers had the clarion 280 - I moved the bow speakers to the 280 and replaced tower speakers with NVS Entitys powered by a kicker 850.4 - Two channels of the 480 are currently unused - I had to extend the bow speaker wiring - not a big deal - I didnt consider a total rewire just for those

          AuMDLST,

I bet that sounds killer. Do you have any pictures? Also, how much of a difference did moving the bow speakers to an amp make?

The difference with the bow speakers on the amp is no distortion - I have the boat speakers faded down some - with the head unit volume on 16 I can have a somewhat normal conversation in the boat and the skiier can hear the towers clear as a bell - The boat does get too loud for my wifes liking though - In the neighborhood I had the head unit at twenty and was over 200 feet behind the boat - very clear sound - I have yet to get other pics - working on it though - with four kids wakeoarding it hard to get the camera in hand

I have three amps, two four channels and a class D sub amp. One of the amps powers the tower in bridged mode, the other powers the 6 boat speakers (rears paralleled). It works great. The deck doesn't make enough power to power anything.

                  RE: setup

I did all the changes - Boat was wired with factory tower (double can Polk) speakers (12 ga wire)- All wiring and amps purchased through Ultimate Audio except for the NVS speakers - I built the sub box and installed the additional wiring for sub amp and tower speaker amp - Talk to Ultimate Audio if you are not interested in doing the work - they are great people - I'll be out Sat. and Sun. with the family - we do lunch at the island - come by if you're out and take a look
