I've been thinking about installing some tower lighting, but have been really unimpressed with what is offered out there. I got to thinking that maybe I should go a different route. I've been looking at automotive off-road lights. Below are two I'm looking at. I'm leaning more towards the Hella lights because they are black when turned of. Being that my boat is all black I think it would lok better. Also, they are made from ABS plastic where the PIAA's are steel.

I was planning on using the factory "docking light" wiring in the boat since I don't have them. I'm unsure of the amp draw on these lights or the docking lights though. Also, I would assume the docking lights would already be wired through a relay so I wouldn't have to use the relays that come in the light kits. Has anyone wired their tower lights this way before?
