    03 team stero ?'s

So I got a new head unit in my boat. Here is my setup now, I would like to improve on it w/o spending a lot of money so any help would be appreciated.

I have deafcon IV's on the tower right now, with a 2 channel amp powering them. They sound fine and have enough power to get the sound out to the rider. The interior speakers are lacking right now. I have the stock kicker 4 channel which is powering some of the interior speakers and then the sub.

My thoughts were maybe adding another amp and powering the sub off a mono amp, and then having the stock kicker power all the stock interior speakers. Would this help make the sound a little better? How many amps can i run w/o killing my alternator? I do have dual batteries.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Chris

    RE: 03 team stero ?

another amp for the sub is a good idea - if you have bow speakers move them to the open locations on the factory amp after removing the sub - I currently am running the two factory clarion amps (480 and 280) along with a kicker 750.1 for a 12" solobaric as well as a kicker 850.4 for a pair of Entitys - all four amps run several hours with no issues - I have yet the need to go for more than a couple of hours without starting the boat - two factory batteries with the selector switch always set to both batteries

ok here is a ? for you. Were the bow speakers already ran? Or did you have to run speaker cable to them in order to get power up there? That sounds like that would be a pain. Also, did you mount that 12 where the stock 10 was? I would rather not have to screw with making a new box if i put in a 12.

relocated bow speaker wiring from head unit to amp - just under dash work with factory wiring - the new sub is in the location of the factory sub - within a custom enclosure

OK thanks. so i assume you mean that when you just relocated the front speakers to the amp from the head unit you just moved them from the wiring harness from the head unit and relocated it to the amp? Was the stock wiring heavy duty enough to handle that extra power?

I believe it is 14ga wire - may have been 12ga - either size is more than enough to run any amount of power from an amp - the 14ga wire is good for 15 amps of current and you are only in the 6-8amp range for the wattage - number 12 wire is good for 20amps -
