CAN YOU HEAR THIS 211?

SORRY FOR THE LOUD TITLE... and my apologies also if this is in the wrong section, but here goes: I'm about to order my 211 and I'm hesitating between getting the optional Polk tower speakers (the two double sets) or getting my own after-market speakers.

I've read that really good after-market tower speakers like Wet Sounds or NVS can be heard pretty well by the rider while wakeboarding. But what about the optional Polks? How would those compare?

Advise appreciated, as always.

I have a new 211 and put two of the WETSOUNDS PRO 485's on it. I used ZAPCO amps to power them. LOOKOUT! These things are incredible. They are big...You will bang your head alot.

I had the factory double polks with the factory clarion 280 running them - you can make out that they are playing but its just noise behind the boat - I sold them on ebay after reading about the NVS Entitys - I was unable to hear them before purchase so I was taking something of a chance - I have not had the chance to hear the wetsounds but I can tell you that the NVS blow away the polks - I amuse myself by turning up the volume as other boats pass with the polk style speakers - The NVS speakers are head turners without a doubt - you will not get the sound out of the polks that you are going to get with NVS or wetsounds - I am running a kicker 850.4 for the power to the NVS tower and am 5'8 and have yet to hit my head on them - I just duck a slight bit

Thanks for this. Sounds like after-market speakers with an extra amp is the way to go.

But now let me get something else straight: If I take the "tower wiring" option only, there are no tower speakers, but then am still I getting an amp thrown in there (a factory Clarion) for the speakers to come? I noticed in the demo boats at the dealers that there were always two amps in there, so I can't figure out why...

Also, will a new amp to go with the tower speakers be a faily simple thing to wire? Will I be able to fade btwn the tower and the interior spkrs?

typically the second amp is for the tower speakers - if you saw the second amp without the tower speakers they may have installed that amp with the tower wiring - that amp does not have enough to push the NVS or wetsounds - it is fairly simple to add the amp needed - wire sized for the amp as stated in amp specs you connect directly to the battery both positive and negative - you can fade if you have one amp on the front output and the other on the rear output from the head unit - those both are fading outputs - there is a third output no fading for a sub amp

I'll also give my two cents on the Wetsounds... they are the correct craft of tower speakers, enough said... Tige made a great move by partnering with them.

We've had two pairs of Fusions, one pair of Audioformz, and heard the Polks. Rest assured that the NVS (which i've never heard) or the Wetsounds with the horn compression system is the only way to clearly hear the music while riding. As previously stated, "car speakers" like the fusions, audioformz (which had the 6x9 polks), and the polks (6.5") just make noise while riding. b/c i've never heard the NVSs I cannot comment on teh quality of sound, although I"m sure they're excellent.

I'm more than satisified with the Wetsounds, just make sure the mean age of lakeside residents is low... EVERYONE will hear WHAT you are playing, so be sure its good music too... We power them with a Cadence (sp?), forgive me but idk which one it is b/c I have not learned much about this company yet... I'm pretty sure its their most powerful one...

You will not be dissapointed with the Pro 485s...

NVS Tyrants on mine and they are very loud and clear. Having the bimini below the speakers prevents any head banging. If you do intend to add a powerful system have the factory pre-wire the tower with 10 or 12 ga and also get the additional battery option as you will most likely need that as well. If possible also have them run the power and ground for the additional amp, my 800w required 4ga, the factory Clarion 480 was powered with 8ga.

The factory Defcon III's are nice however the NVS's are in another class.

Has anyone had a pair of the Skylon Rubicon 450's? They have HLCD tweeters like the WetSound/NVS. Wondering how they compare.

I have Wetsounds Pro 485s, friends with NVS and Rubicon 450's. I frequently hear them together.

My first choice is Wetsounds, second is NVS, third are the Rubi's. The first and second choice are closer than the third, still no real wrong choices with any of the three.

I also feel that the white Wetsounds look best on my white hulled boat.

I'm going through the same process...tower speakers for a white hulled 211. The concensus seems to be the Wetsounds or NVS are both the good bets, so now I'm wonderinghow much of a difference the amp makes, either the brand or model.

if it aint wetsounds it aint worth having. once you have heard a wetsound the rest just dont cut it. they aint cheap but they oh soooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooood!!

I dont believe the brand is as big an issue as the model - you need to make sure you have enough to push these speakers - Kicker 850.4 in my case for the NVS Entitys

UPDATE:

Got a pair of Wetsound Pro-80's and put them on the new boat this week-end. Man, they are super sweet! I got those hooked up to a second Clarion amp (the 4 channel marine set on 2ch = 160 W RMS/ch). WOW, you can clearly hear the music while riding. What a great experience!

However, I must say they are kind of big and bulky for a 211 for my taste. If I had to do it over, think that the Pro-60's would have been more than enough; but hey the 80's are definitely keepers for me.
