    Stereo Ideas for a 216

Got a new 216 this summer. Starting to think about a winter project (wife unhappy). Last year I put a new system in my 211 only to get rid of the boat this summer. I took all the equipment out before selling. Here is what I have. (2) JL 400x4 and (1) 500x1 JL for a sub. Any ideas or pics of amp, sub and speaker placement.

RE: Stereo Ideas for a 216

Hey, i like the 216 a lot, but frankly it sucks when it comes to storage, esp. when it comes to redoing/upgrading your stareo system. The best place for a sub in this boat would be right under the dash. the problem is that theres so much junk under there, you have to be pretty mechanically inclined or be willing to spend plenty of cash to move everything around. people on this site have done it before and it looks great. we do not have the skills and do not want to spend the money to relocate everything down there. so, we left all the speakers as is and aren't bothering with a sub at this time. The kicker sub is "fair" at best when placed under the passanger seat (probably the worst place for a sub in this boat)

Our soultion was to keep it simple. We know its not perfect, but instead of splitting our efforts and cash between the in-boat system and tower system, we just went all out on the tower and got a pair of pro 485 Wetsounds. They are amazing--unbeatable--the correct craft of tower speakers. Tige made a smart move by partnering up with them this year. I don't know the specs of it, but we have the largest Cadence amp powering them.... We did a boot-leg mounting job with it, but its secure and gets the job done. I dont have any pics of it. they're so good they actually produce enough "bass" to satisfy our needs at this time... we're happy

if you really are set on a sub, an alternate option instead of redoing your foot area would be to mount it into the jump seat somehow. the jumpseat fits best in this boat out of all the others, imho, right behind the drivers seat. if you tend to leave it in the boat, you could figure out a way to put a sub in there. Besides that though, there's not many other places to put it. search the site for grant west's work. his site, i think, is svtsupercharged.com, but for some reason its not working for me now.. hope this helps, let us know what you decide...

      Work in progress

Thought I would share a couple photos. It is still a work in progress, but hope to have completed Mid Jan. 2008. Please let me know what changes or ideas to make this a clean looking install.

Installing 2 JL 300/4 and 1 500/1. Keeping the 6 Polk Momos and Sub. 2 new tower speakers.

Its hard to get all the wires organized.
