    Clarion Remote mounting

I have a 2007 SV211 Team. I would like to mount a remote for the radio so when sitting on the swim platform I can change the volume and such. The question I have is where can I mount it back there? Has anyone done it? Do you have pictures or war stories? Thanks

    RE: Clarion Remote mounting

I'm sure you are referring to a hard wire type remote control install, I think Grant or MikeSki has done it. Have you considered going wireless via RF remote instead?

Have you seen this before ? http://www.h2owaves.com/technical.php

I got one and it works pretty good.

Different transom setup, but there's a guy that goes by Diesel on the MC forum that has lots of pictures of the remote install he did on his 209.

I contemplated the rear remote location for quite some time before grabbing the drill...

In the end I chose a location next to the grab bar above the pass through step. This allows easy access when you are on the rear deck, at the storage areas, sitting on the rear part of the love seat and in front of the motor. Shortly thereafter I added the waterproof H2O waves remote. Now I use the H2O waves remote anytime I would have used a platform accessible remote. Grant's rear remote is on his transom accessible from the platform, I have seen him use it more reaching over from the back seat, that factored into my location decision.
Almost every rear remote I have seen suffers from one of two problems: 1. the buttons get accidentally pushed when the rider is sitting on the transom, 2. they get wet too many times and fail.

I am happy with the H20waves remote. If we want to set up a group buy, we can probably get the transmitter/receiver combo cost under $100. Get the H2O waves setup and stick them wherever you want including your wrist, the extra transmitters are cheap.
