I'm thinking of mounting the SUB under the dash. Does anyone see anything wrong with vibration around all the electronics? Also are people enclosing the back of the SUB.
RE: Mounting the SUB in the kick panel under the dash
I installed mine in the kick panel and have not had ANY issues with vibrations interfering with the electronics - I'm running a tuned JL 12W6v2 pushed by a JL 500/1 amp. And for enclosing the sub, that basically is a must (if I read your post right). One tip is that if you are cramped for space, and have to make the sub enclosure smaller than the recommended specs for the sub (like I was), pack the inside of the box ( ) with Poly-fil.
Here's a pic of the space I had to work with, and the install of the sub. -_sadness_-
Here's what I ended up with, and love!
What are you ultimately looking to do - install a competition style sound system, or just the pounding system that won't win any awards but will suffice your friends needs for sound? If it's the competition style setup, Grant might be a better person to chime in; but if you are looking for just an additive to your current system the sub, in an enclosure, behind the kick panel will work perfect for you.
