    Mounting hardware for new deck?

Can't find the answer through numerous searches so here it goes. I have a 1990 SN with factory Kenwood tape deck and factory speakers. Looking to replace factory deck with a new CD player. Will I need a mounting kit or will a new head unit just slide in?

    Thanks in advance

if the din size is the same, it should just slide right in

Thanks Andrew. Have DIN sizes changed at all in the last 18 years?

not to my knowledge.... u've got single, double, and one and a half.... as far as i know, the specific measurements are the same from single to single or double to double etc.

Bought a new deck for my 98 and the din plug didn't match up. Just spliced the one that was included (rather than spend the afternoon under the deck). I didn't notice any degradation of sound either in the garage or on the water from the splice. Of course, I was going Clarion to JVC, which could account for the size difference.

I believe that they are referring to a DIN chassis and not a DIN connector.

that 1990 is most likley a single DIN. the single and double are the most common you will just need to determine wich one you have and should have no problem finding a direct fit. you could also make a single DIN into a double if you wanted. like if you want the clarion cmd4 or5. take a look at radios on ebay you will get an idea of what you have and what will fit.

Both the CMD4 and CMD5 have a single DIN chassis (maybe a couple of millimeters wider), but the face is larger than the standard single DIN opening. They appear to be double DIN or DIN and a half based on the faceplate, but the chassis definitely is not.

Purchased a JVC 230 deck last night. Now looking for a good deal on some Polk speakers. Any suggestions to buy these in Canada at a reasonable price? Or should I order them from the states?

Sorry for the question but what is the DIN that is being referred to?

nch20. Half way down on this link explains "DIN". Basically the standard size hole for a head unit to slide into.

Mhayes - Crutchfield USA says they won't ship to Canada anymore. Crutchfield Canada has the Polk's but they are more $$$, even though the Cdn dollar is worth more !! Still getting ripped off in Canada, and after 32 years I am still not used to it :-)

I will need to check this out. My wife purchased a new Kenwood KTS-MP400MR for a relacement in our '96 Sport. It appears to be very nice and hope it works out ok.

Took the plunge and ordered four Polk DB 651 speakers last night. Crutchfield Canada would not match the Crutchfield USA price which sucks and the Cdn rep says no warranty if I order the speakers from the states to a USA PO box and then use them here. $227 Cdn was the bill, free shipping to my door.
