I need help!! I am not a stereophile but I am switching out my factory Deafcon I's for Deacon III's (I like the look) and adding a Clarion 280 amp to power them. My question is... Do I have to fish an additional speaker wire through the tower to each of the Deafcon III's since I am essentially adding two more speakers? Or are the Deafcon III's already set up to work with the factory tower wiring (one speaker wire to each speaker) for the Deafcon I's. Thanks.

Take a look at the male connector. The wire should still be inside.'18 SAN 210 Reef Blue/Admiral Blue Metal Flake

There is only one wire (with of course the pos and a neg) coming out each side of the cross member of the tower for each Deafcon I. The connection is made to the red and black terminals on each speaker (you have to unscrew each terminal and slip the wire into the terminal and then tighten the terminal down). The Deacon III's have one "female plug" for each PAIR of speakers. The "male" end of the plug that attaches to the speaker wire comes apart and there are connections for TWO wires (in other words... 2 pos terminals and 2 negative terminals inside the plug) per each "male" plug. My question is: Do I have to fish another wire through each side of the tower and connect that wire to the "male" plug for each Deafcon III so effectively each of the 4 total speakers are connected to their own wire?
Thanks

When referencing the female plug are you looking at a nutrick (sp ) connector? - either way you only need the single pair of wire (one pos and one neg) the speakers are wired internally in the defcon 3 cans - although the connector has the option of 2 pos and 2 neg you will only use pos 1 and neg 1 ( they are identified as 1 and 2 respectively2006 SANTE 210 (Pending Sale)

Thank you all for your help. That is the plug I have.
Anyone know the smallest gauge wire recommended?
I my tower was wired for Deafcon I's do I need heavier gauge wire for Deafcon III's.
I will be using the Clarion 280 amp and I never turn the volume up louder than what would prohibit normal conversation. Thanks

Most likely what is there is fine, I would try using the existing wire first, if it sounds good to you, it's good to go.
Heavier wire could create other issues like needing larger grommets, perhaps drilling/enlarging the existing holes in the tower, etc.
