    Which tower speaker?

I want to add tower speakers to my 216 as a winter project.

I am considering either the Fusion T-Series, or the NVS Tyrants.

It would appear that the Tyrants are the more prominent speaker, but are they too big?

Does anyone have any first hand experience that they can share?

    Thanks!

    RE: Which tower speaker?

Comparing the two is apples and oranges - The Fusions are constructed with either a 5 1/4 or 6 1/4 inch speaker or combo of both - the NVS is a 10" mid bass with HLCD - the answer to the question you are asking would be determined by what you want to accomplish - getting sound projected behind the boat will be achieved with ease using the NVS and only taking up 45" of room using the pair

The Tyrants have really great sound and with the Polk grille are a very nice match to the factory speakers. Either way you will need to add an amp and it is also a good idea to add another battery. The biggest downside is added weight/wake size, that is unless all you do is wake sports. The NVS's are big and can be head bangers, if you have a tower bimini it will help that issue. If you will need to take the speakers down often I would consider the quick release NVS now offers, w/o them it does take some time to remove the speakers. The Tryrants will give you good clear sound back to the skier, I do notice some fade when slaloming at the turns, if you crank these up also keep in mind the sound travels great distances, it did require us to be a bit more selective on our music choices as all of our neighbors can hear whatever we are playing.

Here are a couple Pic's of the NVS's on our 206.

        Thanks for the responses guys.

Quinner it looks like your set up is similar to mine if that is a Tower Bimini I see there.

It looks like the speakers clear the bimini no problem.

What about the weight? Will this much weight up there cause stress cracks in the gelcoat from swaying the tower?

        Thanks again!

I'd be surprised if there is any sway in that tower - that design is far more solid as compared to the new style on my 2006 210 - I get some play in the tower with entity's on board but not much more than without the added weight - no stress cracks after a year of NVS service on the tower

Did you consider WetSounds? My personal opinion is that they sound better and look better on a Nautique.

              Which Amp

Would the 300 watt Zapco Amp be the way to go for this application? :???:

                RE: Which Amp

Not if you want to get the most out of those speakers. IMO. NVS can take 400-500 watts each. Maybe a kicker 850. That give ya 425 each.

                  RE: Which Amp

yrant specs are similar to the Entity's - am running a kicker 850.4 on the Entitys as recommended by Duane at NVS - if you are looking at Zapco you should consider the 1000.4 - that will supply 500 watts at 4ohms (x2)

                    RE: Which Amp

go wetsounds . you will be glad you did they rock!!! the kicker 850.4 would be a good choice for an amp but they will handle more. the new wetsound sub is insane give it a look as well.
