    Upgrade to 6.5NG, worth it?

I've been kicking around the idea of updgrading my PP to the 6.5NG multiline display and chip.

Has anyone had any experience in stepping up from the PP Wakeboard Pro (I think it's the 6.5 version, I could be wrong, but I have which ever one was out prior to the Multiline display coming out).

My main question is whether or not it is worth the $265 to upgrade from wakeboard pro, or should I just stick with what already works fine for me?

    Thanks much,
    Mike

I upgraded last year. The new display is alot nicer looking and worth it IMO. In a few months when my boat is back from storage you can come take a look if you want.

      I updated last year - I think it's worth the $265.00

What specifically do you like about it over the old system? Is it easier to use, faster response time, etc etc? Also, how hard was it to remove the chip (I"m not too concerned with that bit of it, but wanted to hear what you all thought).

Thanks again for the input guys!

The pull you get today with 6.5 will be identical with 6.5ng. Only change will be the interface. Personally, I find the 6.5ng somewhat confusing to change screens / settings compared to 6.5. I can do it if I'm the one driving but if I'm on the platform suited up and ready to go, it's frustrating trying to talk someone thru the system. For what it's worth, I'm frustrated enough with 6.5ng that I'm making the jump to Stargazer...hope to have the new system here next week.

Removing the chip was really simple. They supply a chip removal tool (tweesers sp.) and done. Nothing about the swap is difficult. The controls are only difficult because we are all so use to the 6.5. After a few trips the ng is just as easy to use.

I agree completely. The NG interface is terrible. I've used it so much over the past two seasons that I'm very proficient in it (in fact, I can't even remember how to use the old display at this point) but talking someone through it is tough because the controls are counter-intuitive. I'll wait to see how SG turns out this spring before I purchase it.

With the SG, does it still run off of the paddle wheel for Wakeboard mode? I'm just confused what 'auto calibration' means - is that basically the paddle wheel is the main factor in sensing speed, and then the GPS will just check in to make sure it is accurate?

I've also been thinking about just biting the bullet and upgrading to the SG, but from the sounds of it I'm not really getting much more than what my current system has other than the Multi-line display and auto calibration.
