    "Vent" to improve sub sound?

I'm pretty sure I'm not going crazy...I saw a picture in someone's post that had a "vent" for a lack of a better description, that would let the sound of the sub pass through into in my '07 211 instead of being trapped in the storage area. Of course, now I can't find it. I was wondering if anyone knew whether you could buy these to install, or if it was a custom made piece.

    thanks

RE: "Vent" to improve sub sound?

Nick, your not crazy...I remember the same back when I had my '04 211. I went to a local audio shop that does custom work and they used a router to cut some slots (4) in the cooler door. Made a big difference. Some guys have opted to move the sub under the drivers footwell. Good Luck

really easy to make. doesnt really have be that large, just cut the shape you need, rout the edges and find some perforated aluminium from a metal shop. spray the surface with adhesive, lay the vinyl down and fold over the edges stapling it down with stainless staples, cut the centre out and repeat the process. It helps to use a hairdryer to "soften" the vinyl for stretching on the edges.

The hardest thing will be daring to cut the hole in your boat, but after seeing how rough the cc employies cut mine out you cant be any worse.

how are you guys mounting those amps to the inner wall of the port side of the bow? I imagine you arent drilling holes there.

The newer boats have a thickening for the factory amps in that location. We just built a board and pre mounted all the wiring and amps. It makes it alot easier with the curve of the hull. That board is screwed into the thickening.

With the first few boats i made a bracket where the board screwed into the floor, and under the dash.

There are four amps mounted in the above pic

                      here's my solution...

Realize it's not on a CC, but here's how I vented the storage area on my boat. Cut some holes with a rotozip, covered it with some fabric and attached a speaker grille over the top. I placed them in such a way that they don't get kicked too much...most folks don't even notice them until I point it out. Best of all, it didn't take any storage space yet really helped the sound quality.
