    Wetsounds - Dual 485's vs 3-some configuration

Does anybody have any experience comparing between the two above listed configurations? Just wondering if one set-up has benefits over the other that I hadn't accounted for....

    RE: Wetsounds - Dual 485

I just instaled a set of 485 on my titan3 tower. I wish I had got the 3 some. If you tower has any bend to it go with the 3 some. The 485 has to have a straight bar to look right.

      RE: Wetsounds - Dual 485

The threesome tends to fit better on towers with a curved top bar. I prefer the sound of the 485's over a threesome. The Pro-80's are a tad bright for my listening tastes. That said, I would guess the threesome is the most popular setup.

call me an idiot but what do you mean by to bright to much high pitched? Do you think a 3some would fit on my 06 tower

I think anything but a pair of 485's would look funny on a 06 or newer air tower. The towers are so big they need the pair to fill them up.

I agree that the dual 485's do look alittle weird with the tower bars not being completely level making them sit off kilter abit, but I really wanted the dual horns so I went that route vs. the 3-some. Just glanced at them while hanging them, but I think I can add a little shim or something to make them sit level again. I'll let everyone know if I figure it out.

                Chad,

In my opinion, the PRO485's are the most linear of all HLCD tower speakers. You can't beat the larger compression driver larger horn. The 3-Some is ideal for towers that do not have the available width.

Also, a Syn4 will optimally power one pair of PRO485's whereas it's a little more complex and sometimes more expensive to get the best amplifier fit for the 3-Some.

By bright, I mean very strong at high frequencies in the upper octaves like the trumpets, highhat, and female vocals (think Mariah Carey).

Here are my 485's on my 2005 tower.

run one kicker on all the in boat speakers with the bow on ch1-2 and the rear on ch3-4, one kicker bridged into 2 ch's for the tower, and the 1250 on your subs. i don't know what vc your subs have and what not, but someone will be able to tell you whether to wire in parallel or series. i would say just save that 3rd kicker 4 ch incase something happens to one of the ones installed so all you have to do is swap it.-sounds like a really nice system.
