Trailer Gurus- 2001 SAN 210 on a Eagle 2008 216 Trailer

I am in need of a trailer for my boat (after getting screwed on the last trailer I bought off craigslist). Someone approached me with a 2008 216 trailer but it is far enough away from me that I would need to have it shipped, so checking my boat on it is out. Anybody know how much different they would be? I am planning on calling Eagle monday morning.

Generally speaking, the axle(s) on a trailer for a direct-drive are farther forward than they are on trailers for V-drives, since the engine placement is different. Even if the boat would fit, your tongue weight would probably not be right, and the trailer may not tow very well. Other than that, the boat specs look like it might work. The beam is the same on those boats, but the length of the 210 is about 6" less. The weight of the 210 is only a couple hundred pounds more than the 216. Being that the 210 is 6" shorter, you'll have to move the bow stop back at least that far, meaning the axle would be that much further forward than it already is being a DD trailer. If it were me, I would keep looking for the proper trailer. Used ones come up for sale occasionally.

Keep looking, you don't want the axle that far forward... imo
