What about just putting some diamond plate over the top of the painted fenders? Gives you the best of both worlds? As long as you step on paint its going to scratch quickly. Diamond Plate is much easier to polish up and maintain. For what its worth when my boat is in the garage, I still drape a towel over my fender so I dont track dirt in and out of the boat.

I like Seadek on them. I've been wondering what it would cost if I sent them templates and took off the diamond plate stuff.

My dad has something similar to his Mastercraft trailer. They work great but after 16 years its starting to peel and we store the trailer in the garage.

I'll second the Seadek. The stuff is as strong as an ox and is great traction. Depending on size of fender, Sea-dek mat with Nautique logo is about $40 per side for the tops of the fenders.
