I have a 2001 SAN with a dual axle trailer, couple years ago I had the tongue converted to a swing away using a weld on Fulton kit. Let me know if you want photos.
74corvette could you post a photo or 2? I'd like to add the Fulton Swing to my Ramlin, but there is only 2 inches of 3 x 3" trailer frame for it to slide into. According to Etrailer/Fulton, it needs a full 3" for structural soundness. I may be able to cut/grind where the side rails are welded to it to make it work, but would rather not.
I will get photos shortly. I got another piece of 3x3 to use as the extension for where the brake actuator bolts on. I would, if you haven't already, convert over to disk brakes while your at it. Did mine this year and wasn't hard at all. Plus I hated messing with drum brakes.
Yes, you need to have an actuator for disk brakes to also include one if your have single axle or dual axle brakes. I have a dual axle trailer but only have brakes on the front axle. I would find it tough to have the swing away between the bow stop and the trailer, it will need to be in between the bow stop and the tongue.
I am having a '93 cc trailer (essentially the same design used through '02) converted from hinge up to side swing, using the factory Ramlin (03+) swing design as inspiration.
I can ask about getting a kit made up for you if you're interested, he is already CNC programming the cuts for the top/bottom plates. Would still require cutting/welding, obviously. Shoot me an email: TRBenj@gmail.com
