    Ramlin Trailer Fender Pads

I am remaking 2 sets of trailer fender pads for my Ramlin Trailer. Does anyone have any tricks they can share on making them? Thanks in advance!

Maybe send a pic of which pads you're talking about? are these the ones on the inside of the wheel wells?

Yes they are! Is there a better material to use other than wood?

You might be able to use to poly sheets that people (including myself) made wakeshapers out of, but I dont know how well staples would hold in it. Speaking of that, make sure you use monel staples, they are better than the junk steel ones and last longer than stainless steel. I just used the old liner as a template, cut plywood and then glued the back of the carpet to the plywood and then stapled the carpet on the backside.

When it gets down to it, a piece of pressure traeated plywood isn't too expensive and heck if it last a few years, why reinvent the wheel(liner)?

I agree with Nuke. I made some of these for my old Mastercraft but never had the old ones for templates. I used pressure treated wood and they didn't even seem used after 3-4 seasons. I spray painted the wheel side of them black so they kind of disappeared when looking into the wheel well. Maybe yours is fully enclosed there

I replaced mine with 1/2" plastic - I considered starboard, but I found a large enough cutting board to replace both that was cheaper. The white cutting board doesn't scuff the gel coat.

I will take a picture of it when I get home.

On a side note - take the carpet off the old one and use it as a template.

I made mine out of plastic cutting board material found on EBAY One piece netted two pads. drilled, added carriage bolts with nuts behind and glued marine carpet rolling over the edge 11/2- 2 inches Attached to trailer and done. Should last longer than trailer. Same can be used for crash pads maybe doubled up. Just like the above pictured except covered in carpet.

Used 3/4 pressure treated plywood and 20 oz carpeting. I painted the wood with 2 coats of oil base black enamel prior to the carpet job. Looks spectacular!
