White trailer with trailer dings all over, what to do?

I have a white Boatmate trailer under my G23. It seems that I have a lot of rocks on the road, and I may not have realized what my larger tires were kicking up until it is too late. My trailer looks like it spent a week in the desert with a 10 year old kid taking potshots at it with a BB gun. Lots of tiny flecks of white paint missing. A lot. My boat is pretty well pristine, but the trailer looks 3 times the age of the boat. Rock Tamers are on the Christmas wish list, so I hope that will decrease risk of problems in the future.

I can repaint the whole thing, but I think I might end up with the same result, even with Rock Tamers. I read somewhere that some companies are making their white trailers with a Rhino Liner type of coating because white is so problematic in this fashion. (It doesn't ding any easier, but the dings are easier to see). I know Ram-Lin trailers are pretty much all coated with the stuff, which looks pretty awesome.

I spoke to a local Line-X company and they have a product that would work perfectly that is not quite as heavy as Rhino-liner and it goes on smoothly, looking just like paint, but is thicker and more durable. Rough estimate is $1500 and it would never chip again. Biggest downside is that I would need to have the boat off the trailer for a week to get that done. I do not know if my dealer has a spare trailer I could use. I could possibly 'borrow' a new customer's trailer if it comes before his boat does, but I am not sure anyone involved would be cool with that. Or could wait for the crane to come in and have them lift the boat and put it on blocks, but then I am at the mercy of when they have the crane back to get the boat back on the trailer.

What would you guys do? Any additional ideas?

I don't know how big your truck tires are, but Rock Tamers work great with my OEM sized tires.

The tires aren't gigantic, but clearly larger than stock at 35 inches. I honestly don't know if they appeared after I changed tires or if it was happening with the stock tires too. It seemed that this fall it was really getting noticeable.

How about just putting the boat in the water for a week or so?

The only thing I’d be worried about is it fading over time. I’ve seen some trucks with linex and they don’t look the greatest. But if properly done it would probably be good.

In fact, when I called, I was thinking Line-X. The dealer worried it might fade or change color with time (even white). He also noted it is overkill to put truck bed liner on a trailer. The material he suggested is about twice the thickness of powder coating, but much stronger. It is a lot thinner than truck bed liner and can be laid smooth, looking like paint. They did some car rims and threw rocks at them as hard as they could until the rim dented and the new stuff stayed on, despite the dent. It is also guaranteed not to fade.

Good thought on just leaving it in the water. There are basically just 2 lakes around here and both are public lakes with no private property surrounding them. Unfortunately, it would be impossible to keep it secure. I guess they couldn't steal the whole boat without a trailer, but I would worry about someone gutting it during the night.

I to have this same problem, stock wheels. I was thinking of doing vinyl wrap, and clear bra. I’m have some vinyl wrap going on my truck next week, I will see how tuff it is. Also worried about water getting under the vinyl and coming loose, but I think it’s better then repainting it. I can’t stand the paint chips

I’m sure your dealer can lift it up and block it for you
