My trailer guides only float a couple of inches above the rub rail. Is there any way to get them to float higher? Do I just need to build longer ones? My kids occasionally push them down as the boat loads on the trailer, which has caused some scratches on the the decals. I've just replaced my decals so I'm hoping to keep them looking good.

I have a 2007 236.

I simply created longer poles with PVC pipe. We have deep ramps and I already had to buff out a large scuff. I went to the store and made 4’ poles to go replace.
