    Near miss - SANTE Trailer

I just pulled my boat out to install a FAE. Got the install wrapped up, dropped the boat back in (I live about 10 houses away from the launch). Got home, unhooked the trailer and all of a sudden the pin for may trailer tongue hing just falls to the floor.

I literally just had this boat trailered across the country, and I dropped the boat in 5 minutes earlier.

This is scary to say the least. not even sure how to check for impending failure on a part like this, but this could be disasterous on the road.

On the bright side, my FAE is pretty sweet.

Is the other sides bolt tight? That might put some play/stress into it

Boat/Trailer is a 2009. The hing bolts look to be in great shape. hinge swings freely. I have no idea what would cause this. I emailed Fulton

looks like the top of the swing tongue might have more axial load on it? and cause it to shear the pin. Never seen that happen, and i've seen my share of swing tongues.

no ****. My heart skipped a beat when it fell out. since I just pulled the boat out for an hour, and only went about 1/4 mile total - I only had the winch strap and the front strap on the boat and trailer (not the rears). If this would have opened while driving it, I would have been in big trouble

Might be the pin is too soft and needs to be a higher grade
