    Trailer ownership (title)

Is there a ownership (title) for trailers in the US? Do people usually hold on them or does it depend on a particular state? I purchased a boat from Michigan (originally from Texas) and am going through all the paperwork but they're asking for this document. Terrytown RV in Grand Rapids is trying to track it down and I have a plan B but I'm curios, don't people in the US steal trailers? Is trailer ownership not a issue? Could I get one made up through Terrytown? Any advice would be helpful.

I think it varies from state to state. In our state, you title your boat with the marine board and your trailer with the DMV. If a trailer has not been titled, it should have a certificate of origin (MSO) that comes with it from the dealer that is used for titling/ownership purposes.

In KS you get a title for the trailer and not for the boat.

"blueroom" , is that MSO a sticker on the trailer or a loose paper?
