    Trailer Bunk Wood

I need to replace the carpet on two of my bunks (6 total). These bunks are closer to the front (2x4s). On my previous boat, I just replaced the wood with pressure treated. I've been reading that pressure treated can corrode fasteners and possible the bunk supports. From what I've read, you should use non-PT wood. Should I just use a standard framing 2x4?

I've used GC wood for my bunks without issue for multiple trailers. The wood never fails first, always the carpet. I would not use untreated wood. For bunk carpet, I make a point to use stainless staples and use through bolts (vs lag bolts). Galvanized carriage bolts have worked fine.

Of course, it's much wetter up here in the PNW. You may have other options in TX.

    Hope this helps!
