    adding winch to 2004 ramlin trailer

    If you are selling the boat, I would leave it be. The new Owner may want the original setup, or something completely different. the added cost and time you are going to have to change the trailer is not going to add any value to the sale IMO. Others may disagree, but that's my thought.

      Ended up adding the winch. I think I was about $100 or $150 into with the new winch and the hardware. Already had the welder, steel, and drill bits. Took a few hours. Just marked my cuts, drilled the corners, connected the dots with an angle grinder. Slotted the 2x4 steel tube inside the 2.5” square tube of the bash plate and welded it up. Clamped the winch on, marked the holes, drilled those. Was able to get all 3 bolts through, but did have to buy longer bolts, as what came with it were intended for mounting to a flat plate. Handle clears the bash plates. Also replaced the bent stock turnbuckle. But the ease of use of the winch, especially when showing it to a prospective buyer and not looking like an idiot when pulling it out seemed like a no-brainer. We rarely towed it but I should have done this years ago.
