I really like the Rivian too, great looking truck. I have to admit the Cyber Truck has grown on me though over the years

I'm not sold on EV use for towing... especially if distance is significant, or altitude changes are common. I watched this video a few weeks ago and it puts them in real world situation comparisons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcZ_7qR_KBE

If you don't want to watch the video here's the cliff notes...

Ford F-150 King Ranch with 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid using 91 octane at $4.40/gallon vs. Rivian towing 7300-7400lbs (enclosed trailer with Tesla inside). Took both on a 52.5 mile I believe roadtrip and the Rivian only managed to beat out the F-150 by about $4.50 total in the trip. Now if this test had been done even 1 month sooner when gas prices were lower the Ford would have been more economical AND could have gone further as the Rivian was hurting on distance. Another thing they didn't even touch on was vehicle costs... even the base model Rivian is more expensive than the King Ranch MSRP.

I'm not trying to sway anyone's minds... I just know for me the tech isn't there for an EV to tow at the same efficiency as gas or diesel. For a commuter car they are great with the occasional light load though.

A diesel would have made it look silly.
This winter a buddy and i towed our sleds out to Wy. We towed my trailer with his ‘01 Ram 1500 with a gas hemi because my ‘06 F-250 diesel is getting a little long in the tooth for a trip that long. We averaged 7.07 mpg round trip pulling the same trailer with two sleds that I get 15 mpg towing to Canada and Maine.
To say the least I’ll be getting another diesel once the truck market gets back in line to where it was/should be.

I saw a Rivian at my school drop-off today. It was a lot smaller looking than I anticipated.
