I came across a guy on the boat ramp this weekend dropping in a 1955 Montgomery Ward Tri-hull with an Evinrude outboard 50 that was purring like a kitty cat. We got to talking, and I couldn't help but notice the welder in the back of his truck that was bigger than his boat. "Ya, I'm trying to get my Mobile Welding Business up & going". I said, man have I got a job for you. lol! I have the new brackets ordered from Boatmate Trailer (the upgraded ribbed brackets), and as soon as they get in we will be scheduling a day on the lake while my new friend takes care of the business. I would like to put in a plug for Boatmate's parts team, in that over the years they have always been over the top helpful even if it is something as small as finding the correct $10 part for you.
I believe this project (trailer loading upgrade fabrication) to be an over the Summer build, need to fix the issues at hand 1st, but I will keep you updated. ~Shag, I will try to dig up some pics of the Supra trailer, just to show the direction I'm thinking of going with the G trailer...

Little down time, decided to replace the bent starboard side bunk brackets that I inherited.
Cut the old brackets off at level and went over the top of them with the new reinforced brackets form Boatmate Trailers, probably $60 bucks for all 3.
Boatmate also supplied the matching paint. I really like the way the Black Rust-oleum Rust Reformer Primer I used lays down, dries fast and easy to sand, we'll see how it holds up to the elements. The Boatmate paint went on as if it were from a spray gun, super nice, 3 coats.
Pulling the bunk, cut & weld, maybe 1 1/2 hours or less. Mask to finish, maybe 4 hours between masking, prime coats, sand, paint coats, while doing other things in between.

The ribs on the flat plate won’t keep the top of 90* part from bending down again, they needed to put gussets on the right angle bend.

They should have done something like this below.

Agreed gun-driver. Not sure why that simple solution is not part of the design. The added ribs do offer more support for the center section down to the trailer cross member, but nothing for the top inch or so where the flex begins. Boatmate engineers probably said "good enough, next". We'll see how these hold, so far so good...

I would of thrown down another $10 bucks a piece for the added gusset, they are fairly inexpensive, probably cheaper than I can make them. I have a few back up brackets for the other side if it starts to give me fits. I'm still planning on doing a little modifications along with adding 2 more forward bunks this winter, for the every time perfect load.
          BRCKT-BUNK 10" X 3", RIBBED 35-0116 4 $17.19 $68.76
          BRCKT-BUNK 9" X 3", RIBBED 35-0115 2 $16.71 $33.42
