Every ramp is different … If I were to go that deep I’d be off the end of the ramp with another set of problems! LOL!

I have to power it up the last few feet. Low power, but power.

My 08' 230, site and fits nicely on a 2019 230 boatmate trailer, with what appears to be equal support on bunks.

Well after getting 3 quotes to repair the trailer ranging from $1600 to $1950 Boatmate has responded back to me stating they are only willing to pay $780.00. Now what am I suppose to do? And the other problem is 2 of those 3 shops are booked out until September. Great warranty so far they are offering. Year and a half old trailer to me.

Yeah, I'd say them not willing to repair it themselves, or through the dealer who sold it to you, or pay the full cost of whatever it takes... I'd be pissed. What about your insurance? Will they help you out here and do you have a separate deductible than the boat?

So boatmate is in Tennessee and I'm in California so they cannot fix the trailer, which I understand completely. I purchased the boat and trailer through Orlando Nautique because that is where the boat was located when I purchased it. I bought the trailer new from that Nautique dealership. Would be hard to have them get involved at all as they are way too far away as well. My local dealer referred me to a shop here and that guy was booked out until September and rough quoted me $1600-$2000 over the phone by my pictures I sent him.

In that case, I would check with your insurance to see if it can be covered then start calling around for other options for someone to fix it. I can't imagine finding a qualified welder would be that hard and if Boatmate is willing to ship you the parts you need then you should be ok. Granted it still sucks, but it should get you back on the water before September.

Finding someone to do the work isn't the problem. They are all quoting around $1600+ and Boatmate only wants to pay $780 is the problem. I can get the trailer fixed next week but don't believe I should have to pay $800 out of my own pocket when the trailer is under warranty

What are the specific terms of the warranty? I'd read the fine print carefully to see if there is any statement that you must deliver the trailer to their location or the selling dealer for service. If there isn't any such clause, I'd take the position it's on them to fix the trailer and ask them to designate a local shop of their choosing who will do the work. IMO, you need get out of the business of shuttling quotes back and forth between Boatmate and repair shops - that needs to be directly managed by Boatmate.

My apologies the awakening of an old thread. StormTrooper, your trailer bracket pics look spot on identical to what I am experiencing on the starboard side of my trailer. The 1st bracket at the rear/stern is ok, but the other 3 going forward are severely bent. The '16 G23 is new to us this season, and I'm sure it was an existing condition that I missed on the initial inspection, since we have only had the boat in the water twice. That would explain why we couldn't get the boat on the trailer straight, yup. I noticed that the replacement bunk brackets available from Boatmate are now ribbed for greater support, hmm, perhaps a known problem...
StromTroop what was your resolve here, did you get 'er fixed, and are we the only 2 G's that have experienced this problem?

So to start with I don't have an answer here on the post. My comment would be that Boatmate has done this for years going back. The BIL has a 05 Response with a boatmate trailer that has not fit correctly from day one. The BIL complain after first launch and was repeatedly brushed off and the trailer still loads/unloads like crap. This sounds like SOP for this company for this problem as well as many others documented on this site as well as and others. Problem is what other choices do you heave these days? The sad part is all the right components are there, good brakes. good axles, calipers, master cylinder but in certain instances crap engineering. The worst part is if you get one of these crap trailers you're stuck with the crap. Near zero post sales support or if you get it they're expecting you to find a fab shop to fit it.

Honestly if I were buying a trailer these days Boatmate would be very low on the list. Can you get a good one? Sure, but if you get a bad one you're stuck figuring out how to get it fixed. For my money Phoenix is the safest quality trailer out there right now.

Agreed, good bones, except for the extremely undersized master brake cylinders. My previous boat was a Supra riding on a Boatmate. I added 2 front bunks, shimmed the other bunks to perfection, cut the front latch point down for a ramp and clamp. We turned heads at the boat ramp for the 30 seconds on the trailer and up the ramp without ever leaving the cockpit of the truck. Should of come that way from Boatmate, maybe I should apply for a job, lol. I'll never get that 20 hours of fabrication back, but it was well worth it for the amazing loading experience.
I'll be putting something together for the G sled, after I replace the 3 bent bunk brackets, grumble grumble...

We need to cut some 1.5" - 2" spacers for the front bunks then I think we'd be OK. Worst part about this for us is the BIL owns a machine shop so you'd think fab'ing up the spacers wouldn't be a problem yet here we are 17 years later..... I really just need to go over there grab the trailer buy one of the waterjet guys a 12 pack and have him cut the dang things. Problem is I've been saying that for 17 years as well. Seems we always manage to find time for someone's rush job but can't seem to squeeze in anything for ourselves. Sort of like the story about the cobbler's kids with no shoes I guess.

I'm shocked to see they are using flat plate to hold the bunks. I would have expected at the minimum angle iron, but truthfully would have though it would have been tube. I'll have to check out the trailer for our GS when we go up this weekend.

Scooter can you post a couple pics of that modification for the ramp and clamp? Also - I am assuming no one is hauling with extra lead or ballast full correct? I could just see boatman trying to say that... But after seeing those pics, that is just piss poor design.. Square open end heavier tube with 3/8 flat bar should be the mount base for these bunks.. imo

Had similar issues with my G21 trailer years ago. Boatmate stepped up and sent me a brand new trailer all the way to Canada.
