G23 bearing on front Boatmate Roller

Apologize in advance, because I know I've read this somewhere but cant find it.

We have a '16 G23 and Boatmate trailer. When loading on the trailer I cant seem to get the boat clear up to the front roller. I've floated and powered on, steep and flat ramps. Everytime I get it on the roller, pull the boat out and its 2"-3" away. It doesnt seem to affect the ride to have it off the roller, but as an Engineer I know this puts more stress on the front portion of the trailer.

What's everyone's tricks to get it all the way on, or is a gap acceptable?

    TIA

I saw a guy at the ramp this past weekend with what appeared to be a pretty new GS24 dipping the boat over and over trying to get it a little further forward on the trailer. He had thaw strap cranked super tight, and I couldn’t figure out what he was doing. Then I noticed he had two or three big chunks of gelcoat missing just above the bow ring, apparently from smacking into the roller while bouncing down the road. I went back and looked at my G21 and I had a gap as well, though thankfully no damage. We use a pretty steep ramp, and I get it tight to the roller before we pull it out, but it seems to find a way to drop back a half inch or so each time.

If there is a gap between the front hook and the roller the front bow of the boat will bounce up and down while trailer down the road. My front eye hook is dam near touching the front roller on the trailer when properly put back on the trailer. I have a 2018 G23 also on a Boatmate trailer

Same on my 21 G23, it really needs to be cranked ALL the way on there and hope it stays or dunk it again to make it stay.

I have a '16 G23 w/ Boatmate trailer and have the same problem loading it onto the trailer. This is a "G" thang..and our local ramps are steep so it exacerbates the problem. We have to do a 2 or 3 step loading to get it right. First put the trailer in so the wheel wells are just under water. Drive the boat on the trailer and it will come to rest about 2 feet short of the roller. Hook the strap. Then back the trailer in deeper and crank the boat as you go. Must get the boat all the way up so that the eye hook is up tight against the roller. At this point, if the ramp is steep, the stern of the boat will be floating quite significantly. As you pull the truck out, have someone inside the boat pushing/pulling the guide poles to keep the boat centered.

If you don't get the bow eye up to make positive contact with the roller, the boat will rock back away from the roller when you drive away.

Be careful power loading, the prop walk will cause the boat to shift and get crooked on the trailer, just enough so the prop is in danger of hitting the trailer. I've done it.

There's no easy way to load these beasts on the trailer.

James nailed it. I would add that if the eye is not tight to the roller the trailer may be light on the ball and bounce more while trailering. Mine is a 2 step process to get the boat right. Fenders 2" below the water, run the boat up to the front roller with the strap tight then and little deeper to pull the eye tight to the roller. If I skip the first step and run the trailer deep the bow hits the roller.
