New Trailer

Hello All,

I am looking at getting a new trailer for my MY 2001 SN. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a trailer manufacture. I am waiting on a price quote from boatmate and phoenix. My current trailer is an eagle that is really starting to show it's age with some bad rust. I don't need anything over the top, i trailer my boat about 10 miles each way to our pond, which is freshwater. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I have no experience with either, but the concensus seems to be that Boatmate is not a good choice.

I actually talked with 2 reps for Boatmate earlier this month at the SE Nautique Regatta about my 2003 SANTE and if they offered a trailer for it... they didn't seem very interested and went on to say all their business is keeping up with new boat trailer demands right now.

I priced a new Boatmate through a local dealer before the inflation/supply chain issues for my 97 Air (Sport) Nautique…

$5500 single axle
$7700 double axle

Wouldn't be surprised if it's now $7700 and $9900 or something like that…

I’ve had a couple Phoenix trailers, very happy with them.

I have had two Phoenix trailers and they both have been very good. Located in Michigan so shipping cost should be considered. They are 6 hours from Sandusky.
I purchased my last trailer from Sliver Spray Sports in Fenton, Mi. They have a custom design trailer with bunks, brekaway tongue, some other features on trailers they order.
My boat trailer is currently in Bellaire Michigan. Live near Oberlin, Ohio.

Mine came from Silver Spray as well and was their package. If you use their package, which is very nice for most people, I would highly recommend upgrading to aluminum wheels and getting the welded on spare tire carrier. Mine came with cheap steel wheels that I don't like and even though I was really clear about the tire carrier being added to the trailer from Phoenix I ended up with what I consider a high quality bolt on. I would have really preferred the welded on version. Also verify if you're getting a trailer with crash bars or a winch post. Mine came with crash bars which isn't bad but I would have preferred a trailer with a winch post.

If you do source a new trailer, can you post feedback? I have an Eagle trailer for my 2003 and I did some major repairs 2 years ago. I should be good for another 8-10 years, but then I will need a new trailer too.

ohhh have I had bad experiences with Boatmate.

I find the negative comments about Boatmate interesting. I bought one in 2010 and it's been a great trailer and my interactions with them have been top notch.

I've posted on my experience which was not good. In short with the components they used you'd think it would have been a great trailer, Unfortunately they totally blew in on the design. The boat is a nightmare to load and unload due to the bunks not fitting correctly. Multiple requests to resolve the fitment issue fell on deaf ears.

My past experiences with Boatmate have been negative too. Granted, it has been years since I have had one, but the ones I had had wiring issues, brake issues, etc. I even know someone who lost a wheel while driving down the road.

Phoenix is the manufacturer I have been using the last couple of years, and they are really nice. No issues at all.

I have also been happy with Ram-Lin and even EZ-Loader.

This past winter I bought a 2022 single axle boatmate for my 2002 ski nautique. So far so good. Easy loading/unloading and seems well built.
