2007 ramlin trailer .. Cant get the trailer off the ball

Trying to find out if there is a trick to get the trailer off the tongue will not release. I replaced the whole tongue assembly this year.

Surge brakes? When I back mine into a parking spot, I have to pull forward an inch or two to get it to come off of the ball.

If you're backing the boat into a location that's uphill from the tow vehicle. Chock the wheels of the boat, crank up the tongue jack until there is upward pressure on hitch, release the lever on the hitch, then put the tow vehicle in neutral and let it roll forward very slowly a little. When the forward or rear pressure is off the hitch, it'll release. It's a good idea to keep the safety chains connected while you do this.

the tower on this boat is actually higher than my previous Sport so I had to dig out the area underneath my shed so the boat sits lower than the truck. I'm going to pull it out and see if will come off in the level driveway

I back mine up my driveway and pretty much follow the process that jpwhit described.

What jpwhit said. I jack up the nose of the trailer until it starts to lift the back end of the rig by ~ 2 inches or so. Typically if I just bounce the rear end of the rig by jumping on the bumper, the ball will release. But sometimes I have to move the rig an inch forward / backward to get the ball to pop.

This may help the cause a little in the future. As long as the trailer & tongue aren't wedged as mentioned. I have some stubborn trailers, a little grease on the metal to metal before hook up seems to help on the releases. This lubricant doesn't leave a black streak across your leg when you accidentally brush up against the trailer ball. I don't leave home without it, lol.
