    Boatmate Handrail Retrofit

i fell off the steps of my Boatmate trailer last night. battery fell on my arm, had to go to the ER. bad situation.
i need a handrail. has anyone retrofitted one, or, been able to find a solution for stability going up and down the bow steps?

first attachment current configuration. second attachment requested configuration.

Sorry to hear, no bueno. Those steps are an accident waiting to happen without a handrail. Sounds like I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. I hate those stairs, but better than nothing I suppose.
I have one in design, but I have a few projects in line ahead of getting to it.
I have the tube stock and flat bar ready to go. I am planning just one side for the rail with 1 x 1 1/2" rectangular tube and a welded angle cut for the rail handle at the top.
I think this will also help when trailering, it's tough to know how far forward you are when slipping on. This will give a good reference point, thinking.
Boat Mate has pre-mixed color coded rattle cans to match the color of the trailer, good quality, spot on.

I know this doesn't help your current cause much. If you know of a weld shop, that would be a "with eyes closed" project for them, don't think it would set you back too much, especially if you could take some measurements and drop off the stairs to them.

On a side note, Boatmate would probably build you a new bolt on set, but I would love to hear the price tag on that. Maybe cheaper than the ER, ay.

I am planning to do something like this this offseason for my 2014 trailer. The single step is awful so I may just design all new steps and rails to go up. I dont think the design or fab part of it will be difficult at all. A normal fab shop could easily add some rails to yours with minimal issue minus maybe the seadek needing replaced.

I will give them 4 Stars as a great place to hang wet life vests at the end of the day
