Getting ready to replace the bunks on our trailer (2001 SAN with a Magnum trailer). I called magnum to ask what size bolts they use and the service guy sad they use 3/8 1'' lag screws. Well I am not going to do that, So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with through bolts on these trailers. I was thinking of going with 3/8 2.5'' Carriage bolts. I also forgot how many bolts per bunk but I think its 2 bolts per connection to frame and there are I think three connections points so a total of 6 bolts per bunk. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

So it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Each bunk is held on by 6 lag screws (most of them either were missing or had been replaced with a few carriage bolts). What I ended up doing was removing the old bunks and cutting them to size. I then drilled holes through the wood and then using a spade bit counter sunk the head of the carriage bolt. I then hammered in the carriage bolts (3/8 x 2.5") and covered them with 3M 5200 (and then a put a piece of tap over that). I then covered them with carpet using SS staples and then put the bunks on the trailer using a washer and lock washer and then two nuts. I waited till the next day to tighten everything up. Came out looking great!
